CONTACT USVaarakoski - the story behind the company's name
Vaarakoski is a beautiful rapid in the backyard of my house, in the lower reaches of the Vaajoki-river. The company's name was originally Vaarakoski Kala Oy, and it was founded in 1998.
The fish ponds and the log cabins managed by the company are next door to my home, and the company itself ended up in my ownership through a few twists and turns in half of 2010, and I bought the rest of the shares in 2018. I have not engaged in fish farming, and it would not even be commercially possible, but that is another story.
After transferring the business activities that I previously carried out as an entrepreneur under a business name completely to the name of a limited company during 2023, the change of the company's name also became relevant. My strength is not coming up with good names, so Vaarakoski Oy continues to live on the shore of Vaarakoski.
Meiju Arvila, Vaarakoski Oy
Hi! I am Meiju Arvila, a long-term expert in financial management. I started my working career in addition to my university of applied sciences studies in Helsinki in 2002 in the financial unit of a listed company, moved to Southern Lapland to work at an accounting office work in 2004 and since then lived in the small village of Loue in Tervola, halfway between Kemi and Rovaniemi. I am a tradesman in financial administration and a KLT accountant with a degree in accounting from the Finnish Financial Management Association.
Most of my accumulated over 20 working years I have spent in accounting firms - from a very small operator to a listed company. My way of working has always been entrepreneurial, so doing work through my own company was a natural transition. I have accumulated strong know-how and experience in numerous different industries and business forms: service sectors are as familiar as industry.
I have also had the opportunity to deal with international situations-investment activities have not remained unknown either. In addition to statutory matters, experience and know-how have also been accumulated in e.g. cash flow calculations, budgeting, investment calculations, project reporting and other management accounting work.
My passion is helping customers. I recognize problems and risks in time and actively look for solutions together with the customer. My hope is that the customer's understanding of the situation of their own company, prospects and development needs would increase with my help. I also wish that the cooperation would be open, uncomplicated and confidential. I don't want the client's only report to be a VAT payment slip and once a year - proactivity is my way of working.
